Over ten students from Jamia Millia Islamia University have been detained by Delhi Police amid escalating protests against the administration's disciplinary actions. According to officials, the students were protesting against show-cause notices served to two PhD scholars for allegedly organizing a demonstration last year.
Beginning on Monday, the protests criticized the university administration for its alleged crackdown on student activism. The university accused protesters of vandalizing property, including the central canteen, and forcing administrative action. This led to police intervention to maintain law and order on campus.
Amidst ongoing protests, some students claimed that 20 students were missing after police moved to quell the demonstrations. Protests have persisted outside the Kalkaji police station with demands including revoking show-cause notices, repealing restrictive campus policies, and halting further disciplinary actions.
