The Congress-led opposition UDF has alleged that those accused in the horrific ragging case at Kottayam Government Nursing College are linked to the Left student organization, SFI. This claim has intensified the political battle over the incident.

V D Satheesan, Leader of Opposition, accused the perpetrators of being SFI members, implicating further ties to the Kerala Government Nursing Students Association. While the Higher Education Minister R Bindu assured stringent action against the accused, she also mentioned the limitations due to the institutional affiliation with the Kerala University of Health Sciences.

Meanwhile, visuals of the victim, a first-year nursing student, being brutally tortured by senior students shocked the public. Protests emerged from KSU and ABVP, demanding justice. The state has initiated legal proceedings, booking the accused under various serious charges, as a thorough investigation commences.
