Stalled AMU Campus and Funding Concerns in Kerala

The construction of the AMU campus in Malappuram, Kerala, remains stalled despite land allocation. IUML's Abdul Wahab urges government funding or land return. Despite significant land allocation by the Kerala government, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus construction in Malappuram remains stagnant, as pointed out by IUML member Abdul Wahab. Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Wahab called for immediate fund allocation or a return of the land to the state for alternative educational uses.

Wahab emphasized the Kerala state's struggles with land scarcity and urged swift financial support from Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, highlighting the absence of adolescent digital libraries and the struggle in scholarship disbursement for minorities. Other MPs in the debate shared concerns about the decline in education funding, inadequate infrastructure, and a demand for increased investment by the government.

KC (M)'s Jose K Mani criticized the government's failure to uphold educational standards, noting declining learning levels and infrastructural gaps in rural areas. Meanwhile, Prafull Patel of NCP suggested modernizing the educational model and forming international university collaborations to enhance quality. The discussions highlighted the urgent need for addressing educational discrepancies and improving resource allocation.
