In a stride toward educational reform, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Tuesday the establishment of a co-educational institution at Dhaneta village in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district. The institution will offer a CBSE curriculum with a science stream for Class 11-12 starting the next academic year.
Speaking at the 'Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar' event, Sukhu revealed plans to introduce Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) courses at the Government Degree College in Dhaneta, along with an agricultural procurement centre in Nadaun. Sukhu, representing Dhaneta in the Nadaun assembly constituency for the fourth time, emphasized the government's focus on sustainable educational growth.
Sukhu criticized the former BJP government's approach of inaugurating numerous institutions without financial backing for electoral advantages. The Congress-led state government, according to the chief minister, has made strides in education, advancing Himachal Pradesh from 21st to 5th place nationally. This progress is attributed to initiatives like adopting smart uniforms, facilitating global exposure for teachers and students, and streamlining the education directorate. Additionally, Sukhu commissioned infrastructure projects, including a road upgrade and memorials for fallen soldiers Arvind Singh and Subedar Kuldeep Chand.
