A major crackdown has taken place in Uttarakhand with the arrest of a notorious paper leak mastermind and his associate. They were apprehended for allegedly soliciting Rs 12-15 lakh from students in exchange for fraudulent assistance in passing a government recruitment exam, according to police reports.
The investigation initiated after reports surfaced of candidates being approached with unethical offers. A thorough probe by the police and Special Task Force (STF) revealed that Pankaj Gaur was the key contact for six students, demanding hefty sums to assure exam success. SSP (STF) Navneet Singh Bhullar provided this information on Saturday.
Interrogations led to the discovery that Gaur was in connection with Hakam Singh, identified as the ring leader of the paper leak operation. Both suspects have been detained following the registration of a case at the Patel Nagar police station, with incriminating audio evidence aiding the case. In wake of stringent anti-cheating policies, authorities are staying vigilant during recruitment exams, Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh assured the public.
