Activists from the Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest at Kerala Agricultural University in Mannuthy, leading to a violent clash on Tuesday.
Demonstrations were sparked by a recent hike in college fees at the university, prompting police to deploy water cannons to disperse the protestors.
The protest was exacerbated by reports that a student from the Government College of Agriculture in Vellayani abandoned his studies due to the unaffordable fee increase. SFI leaders remain adamant that their protests will continue until the administration reverses the fee hike.
