Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has raised concerns regarding the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's education model, calling it a statistical facade. Data disclosed in the Rajya Sabha indicated an education revolution was more about numbers than student welfare.

These concerns originated from AAP's own Swati Maliwal, who questioned if students failing in Class 9 were being transferred to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to enhance school performance metrics. The AAP refuted this claim, stating only 22 percent of such students opted for NIOS as a voluntary measure to avoid repeating grades.

The statistics revealed show over 3.20 lakh Class 9 failures within Delhi government schools over five years, with more than 71,000 students redirected to NIOS. Sood argued that while NIOS is a valid alternative education system, it appears not to be applied primarily as a supportive measure.
