Empowering Futures: Gujarat's Ambitious Push for Girls' Education
Gujarat is actively promoting girls' education through schemes like 'Namo Lakshmi' and 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana.' In a decisive move to promote girls' education, Gujarat has launched 'Namo Lakshmi' and 'Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana' schemes aimed at curtailing dropout rates and encouraging higher education pursuits.
The state government under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is offering both financial aid and academic motivation. The Namo Lakshmi scheme, introduced in 2024, provides Rs 50,000 to girls from Classes 9 to 12 with a family income under Rs 6 lakh. So far, over 10 lakh girls have benefited.
Similarly, the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana scheme grants Rs 25,000 to Class 11 science students, assisting over 1.5 lakh students with Rs 161 crore disbursed. Officials underscore the educational and socio-economic impact as part of broader development goals.
