The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programs (CUET-UG) in 2026 experienced significant delays at several test centres across India on Saturday, owing to a technical fault. The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed the delay, emphasizing efforts to ensure that candidates face no disadvantage.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), responsible for conducting the online exam, identified and quickly resolved the issue. The morning session faced a two-hour delay, while the afternoon session adjusted its schedule. Students and parents expressed frustrations on social media over inadequate communication and logistical challenges.
CUET-UG, a nationwide entrance exam introduced in 2022 and now India's second largest, has encountered similar disruptions in past cycles, including technical malfunctions and centre-level mismanagement. Despite these challenges, the NTA continues to prioritize smooth administration of the test to align with educational reforms aimed at equal opportunity.
The NTA offered extended exam times and communicated through helplines and email for any additional assistance needed by affected candidates and their families.
