Is Sweet Magnolias Season 2 releasing in 2021? Which actors are expected to return?

After its premiere in May 2020, Sheryl J Anderson’s Sweet Magnolias became the most-watched show on Netflix. Fans have been waiting for the last 10 months to know what happens next after the big car crash. Last season ended on a cliffhanger following the car crash.

 Sweet Magnolias has been officially renewed for Season 2 in July 2020. While chatting with People about how Season 1 was finished, the novel writer Sherryl Woods said, “The cliffhanger accident was not in the books, but boy, what a way to [end].

"In fact, when I read the script for the 10th episode, I immediately emailed Sheryl Anderson and said, 'Netflix needs to renew this minute.’”

Sweet Magnolias shows the story of lifelong friends Maddie (played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) lifting each other as they juggle relationships, family, and careers in the small, Southern town of Serenity.

The author of the show earlier said that filming of the Sweet Magnolias Season 2 filming would commence early in 2021. The entire Sweet Magnolias cast has been talking about Season 2 after the news broke on Netflix.

Shortly after Netflix announces the renewal of Sweet Magnolias Season 2, JoAnna Garcia Swisher posted a message on her Instagram that Season 2 will be packed with "hope, comfort, drama, and goodness."

Jamie Lynn Spears also posted a picture, announcing that she's returning as Noreen in Sweet Magnolias Season 2.

It is still unclear if all the cast members are returning to play their respective roles in the second season. However, most of the Season 1 actors are returning in Sweet Magnolias Season 2.

Sheryl J Anderson said that almost all the characters (from Season 1) would be returning in Sweet Magnolias Season 2. "Almost everybody you have come to love, you will get to see again. But there are going to be some twists and turns to come that will surprise even the most devoted book fans," she added.

Actors of Sweet Magnolias that might return in Season 2 include JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, Heather Headley, Chris Klein, Justin Bruening, Carson Rowland, Anneliese Judge, and Jamie Lynn Spears.
