In a significant move toward inclusivity, transgender community members, laborers, and sanitation workers, who contributed to building the new parliament building, have been invited to attend Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. The event is set to take place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7:15 pm.
Before the ceremony, BJP MP and former Social Justice and Empowerment minister Virendra Kumar honored transgender community members at his residence. Similarly, BJP MP and former Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat felicitated sanitation workers for their contributions.
"This is part of Prime Minister Modi's initiative of 'sabka saath sabka vishwas and sabka prayas'. Including transgender people in the ceremony highlights the PM's emphasis on inclusivity," Kumar stated to the media.
This marks the first time transgender community members have been formally invited to such a significant national event. Former Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also honored 90 laborers and 30 sanitation workers involved in constructing the new parliament building.
Political leaders and dignitaries from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region are expected to be in attendance. Business magnates like Mukesh Ambani and Bollywood stars such as Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor will also grace the event.
Modi is set to take oath for his third consecutive term as the head of a coalition government, matching the record held by Jawaharlal Nehru. This swearing-in ceremony underscores the BJP's message of unity and inclusivity, ensuring representation from various sectors of society.
