In a colorful celebration of unity and wellness, thousands of yoga enthusiasts from around the globe rolled out their mats to mark the 10th International Day of Yoga on Friday. Participants joined day-long sessions of this ancient Indian practice, demonstrating its universal appeal and enduring relevance.
This annual event was established by the United Nations in December 2014, following a proposal by India and endorsement by a remarkable 175 member states. Notable celebrations took place in New York’s Times Square, featuring special sessions hosted by the Consulate General of India, where people braved the sweltering heat to practice yoga.
Celebrations extended to Washington, Singapore, Tel Aviv, Pokhara, and beyond, attracting diverse participants and highlighting yoga's inclusive nature. India's Deputy Ambassador to the US, Sripriya Ranganathan, addressed hundreds in Washington, while in Tel Aviv, First Lady Michal Herzog attended events promoting peace and innovation. Across these global events, participants embraced the spirit of oneness and harmony that yoga embodies.
