The controversial note was issued by church authorities, including Archbishop Raphael Thattil and Apostolic Administrator Bosco Puthoor, detailing decisions from a recent synod meeting. It insists that the June 9 circular enforcing uniform Holy Mass remains in effect, though with some concessions based on Pope Francis's directive.

Despite the easing of canonical punishments for non-compliant priests, the dissenters argue the note betrays the archdiocese's tradition. A formal complaint has been lodged by the priests, who insist that the synod's actions are unacceptable and are moving forward with confidence against potential repercussions.
