A Viennese philharmonic orchestra, led by India-born conductor Vijay Upadhyaya, regaled Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Austrian capital with a stunning rendition of 'Vande Mataram'.

Upadhyaya, a Lucknow native and the director of Vienna University Philharmonic, conducted an orchestra featuring a choir that beautifully performed the Indian national song. Modi's visit to Austria is the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years, coinciding with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Austria, renowned for its rich musical heritage, proved a fitting backdrop for this cultural exchange. Prime Minister Modi described the visit as historic and called the performance 'excellent'. The Vienna University Philharmonic, comprising over 800 global musicians and singers, showcased their prowess to the delight of the prime minister.

Modi arrived in Vienna following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. During his stay, he also held talks with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, focusing on enhancing cultural, economic, and tourism-related cooperation between India and Austria. The leaders emphasized the significance of collaboration between democratic countries to promote global peace and prosperity.
