A geospatial analysis utilising satellite images and ground surveys has found evidence of the presence of ''huge architectural wealth'' buried in the Mahabodhi temple complex and its surroundings in Bihar's Bodh Gaya, officials said on Saturday.
The study, carried out by the Bihar Heritage Development Society (BHDS) in collaboration with Cardiff University, has unearthed significant archaeological findings beneath the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Mahabodhi temple complex, one of the four holy areas related to the life of Lord Gautam Buddha, is where he attained enlightenment. The findings suggest that structural alignments and a river shift indicate a unified historical connection between the temple and other archaeological remains across the river.
