Historical drama 'Shogun,' depicting a fierce power struggle in feudal Japan, captured 25 nominations on Wednesday, leading this year's Emmy contenders.
The first season of the FX network series will vie for the best drama award, facing competition from Netflix's final installment of the British royal narrative 'The Crown'. Another FX hit, 'The Bear,' garnered 23 nominations, including best comedy, a title it claimed last year.
Comedy nominees also comprised ABC's 'Abbott Elementary,' set in a resource-strapped Philadelphia school, and HBO's 'Hacks,' revolving around an older comedienne and her young writer.
