Diaspora Unites for Environment: Plant4Mother Campaign Gains Momentum
The Indian mission, in collaboration with community organizations, launched a series of tree-planting events and a painting competition as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Plant4Mother campaign. This initiative aims to plant billions of trees by 2025, engaging the local community and Indian diaspora to promote environmental sustainability.
In an effort to engage the diaspora with environmental sustainability initiatives, the Indian mission has organized a series of events under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plantation campaign.
The Consulate General of India, in collaboration with various community organizations and cultural associations, hosted these events throughout July.
The Plant4Mother campaign, launched by Prime Minister Modi on World Environment Day, aims to plant 800 million trees by September 2024 and 1.4 billion trees by March 2025. Modi has called on everyone to plant a tree as a tribute to Mother Nature.
Several tree-planting events and a painting competition were organized to engage the local community and Indian diaspora, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability.
The Consulate, along with students and the Indian American community, conducted the tree plantation drive at six venues, including Tagore Memorial Grove, Ray Miller Park, and Sri Meenakshi Temple.
Consul General D C Manjunath stated that these events encourage the local community and diaspora groups to contribute to environmental sustainability through collective effort.
