Tributes Pour In for Bharatanatyam Icon Yamini Krishnamurti

Political leaders including Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu expressed their condolences over the death of Bharatanatyam veteran Yamini Krishnamurti. Her contributions to classical dance, particularly Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, were widely recognized and celebrated.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were among the political leaders who expressed their condolences following the death of Bharatanatyam veteran Yamini Krishnamurti on Saturday.

In his statement, Dattatreya recalled Yamini Krishnamurti's immense contributions to the world of classical dance and prayed for the departed soul's peace.

Naidu noted that Yamini Krishnamurti, born at Madanapalli in Andhra Pradesh in 1940, had served as the 'asthana narthaki' (resident dancer) of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). He remarked on her international acclaim for Kuchipudi and the irreplaceable void her death leaves.

Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar highlighted that Krishnamurti trained numerous dancers by establishing a dance school and emphasized her lasting impact on classical dance.

Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy noted that Krishnamurti introduced India's cultural heritage to the world through Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, and he expressed pride in her Telugu roots.

Bharatanatyam doyen Yamini Krishnamurti passed away at Apollo Hospital in Delhi on Saturday.
