Actor Ranveer Singh has heaped praise on badminton player Lakshya Sen for his outstanding performance at the Paris Olympics. Even though Sen narrowly missed a bronze medal in the men’s singles event, he made history as the first Indian shuttler to reach the semi-finals in this category.
Singh took to Instagram Stories to express his admiration, sharing a picture of Sen and showering him with accolades. The 'Ram Leela' star wrote, "What a player! What endurance, what agility, what a range of shots, what focus, what grit, what smarts. Scintillating badminton on display! It's difficult to encapsulate just how brilliant he's been at the Olympics. Missed out narrowly in a game of extremely small margins. But he's only 22, and he is just getting started. Fight another day. Proud of you, starboy. @senlakshya."
Despite India's inability to secure a medal in badminton at the Paris Olympics, Sen's performance stands out as a significant achievement. He was in a strong position to claim a medal, having won the first set against Malaysia's Zii Jia Lee. However, Jia increased his attacking intensity in the following sets to secure the bronze, leaving Sen with a respectable but heartbreaking defeat.
On the professional front, Singh has announced a new, eagerly awaited project with a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. Announcing it on Instagram, Ranveer shared a black-and-white collage of the cast, promising fans an unforgettable cinematic experience. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar of 'URI: The Surgical Strike' fame, is produced by Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios and Lokesh Dhar under their B62 Studios banner.
Additionally, Singh is set to star in Farhan Akhtar's ‘Don 3’ and Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again', where he will join an ensemble cast that includes Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff. His latest film was Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,' starring alongside Alia Bhatt.
