Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called on nations of the Global South to unite against global challenges, including food and energy security crises, and the ongoing threat of terrorism. He highlighted these concerns during his opening address at the third edition of the Voice of Global South Summit, hosted by India virtually.

Modi emphasized India's commitment to supporting developing countries, announcing an initial contribution of USD 25 million to a 'Social Impact Fund' aimed at developing digital public infrastructure (DPI) in the Global South. He stressed the importance of learning from each other's experiences and sharing capabilities to achieve mutual growth and development goals.

The Prime Minister underscored the global governance and financial institutions' ineffectiveness in addressing modern challenges, calling for a united front from the Global South to tackle climate change, health security, and economic inequalities. He pointed to India's leadership during its G20 presidency in focusing on issues like inclusive growth and climate resilience, especially benefiting the Global South.
