Cleanliness: A Cultural Legacy in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (retd) K T Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the importance of 'Swachchata' as a lifestyle during the 'Swachh Bharat Diwas'. They highlighted its significance in tribal culture and called for continued efforts in maintaining cleanliness for mental and environmental well-being.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (retd) K T Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have urged citizens to embrace 'Swachchata' (cleanliness) as a lifestyle to foster a cleaner environment and positive mental health.

Participating in the 'Swachh Bharat Diwas' event, Parnaik lauded the state's tribal communities for their active involvement in cleanliness drives and emphasized that these efforts honor Mahatma Gandhi's legacy. He also highlighted the Safai Abhiyan's role in nurturing a healthy environment and mindset, which contributes to India's development.

Chief Minister Khandu echoed these sentiments, stressing the need to make cleanliness a daily practice rather than a one-day event. He called upon officials, community leaders, and youth to maintain Arunachal Pradesh's pristine environment and biodiversity, recognizing the state's tourism potential.

During the event, Parnaik presented 'Swachhata Hi Seva' awards to departments, NGOs, self-help groups, and volunteers for their dedication to cleanliness. The Governor also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of turning cleanliness into a 'jan andolan' (people's movement).
