The Mumbai Police have so far recorded statements from seven individuals, including influencer Apoorva Makhija, regarding controversial comments by Ranveer Allahbadia on the YouTube show 'India's Got Latent', officials announced on Thursday. Allahbadia, a major social media figure, is expected to appear before authorities imminently, according to sources.

In a related development, a team from Assam Police is conducting a parallel investigation in Mumbai, having visited Khar police station and met with senior police officials. A case against Allahbadia and four others was registered by Guwahati Police earlier this week.

The Maharashtra Cyber Department has also summoned over 40 individuals, including Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina, for questioning. The controversy stems from Allahbadia's remarks on a YouTube reality show episode, which sparked a debate on freedom of speech and societal norms.
