Narendra Modi Inaugurates Asia's First Vertical Lift Pamban Bridge on Ram Navami

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu on Ram Navami, April 6, to offer prayers and inaugurate the new Pamban Bridge. This first-of-its-kind vertical lift bridge in Asia reduces train travel time between mainland India and Rameswaram island from 25-30 minutes to under 5 minutes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, on April 6, marking Ram Navami by offering prayers at the Ramanathswamy temple and inaugurating the new Pamban Bridge.

The newly constructed 2.5-kilometre bridge is a landmark development, allowing trains to traverse the sea between mainland India and Rameswaram island in less than five minutes, a substantial improvement from the current 25-30 minute travel time on the existing bridge.

Officials have highlighted the new Pamban Bridge as Asia's first vertical lift bridge, symbolizing a significant advancement in regional transport infrastructure.
