Ahead of the Chaitra Navratri festival, officials are ramping up security at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Enhanced measures include AI-powered CCTV cameras and drone surveillance, aimed at preventing any untoward incidents as thousands of devotees are expected to visit the site.
This development comes on the heels of a violent encounter with suspected terrorists in the Kathua district, which claimed the lives of three terrorists and four policemen. As such, security audits and increased deployments in the region are seen as crucial for maintaining order and safety.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is also improving facilities, offering new infrastructure and amenities to accommodate rising numbers of pilgrims, particularly during the festival period from March 30 to April 7.
