On Saturday, hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the Machail Mata temple to offer prayers for missing persons and those lost in a tragic cloudburst in Chisoti village, Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. The natural disaster, occurring on August 14, left 60 dead and over 100 injured.
Chisoti, the last motorable village on the way to the temple, was struck by flash floods triggered by the cloudburst around 12:30 PM. Devotees, locals, and visitors came together at the temple to honor the departed and pray for the safety of the missing.
Surinder Kumar, representing the temple body, noted the significance of the unprecedented special prayers. Meanwhile, the Machail Mata Yatra remains suspended, with 82 people still reported missing after the floods.
