Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami praised the community's role in the monument's restoration, emphasizing its symbolic act against violence following reports to the Metropolitan Police last Sunday. The statue, cared for by Camden Council, serves as a symbol of India-UK friendship and was originally installed 50 years ago with support from the India League.

Alpesh Patel of the India League reflected on the occurrences as a timely reminder of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings, while Camden's mayor, Eddie Hanson, lamented the racially aggravated vandalism.
