Renowned filmmaker Muzaffar Ali has once again captured audiences' hearts with the re-release of his iconic film "Umrao Jaan." Originally made in 1981, the Rekha-starrer has been brought back to the big screen, enabling Ali to emotionally reconnect with his loyal audience base.
The film, which depicts the 19th-century journey of its protagonist Amiran in a Lucknow brothel, was showcased at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Ali expressed heartfelt gratitude for the audience's continued appreciation, noting the film's timeless charm and Rekha's unforgettable embodiment of her role.
Accompanied by his filmmaker son Shaad Ali, the director shared fond memories of crafting "Umrao Jaan" and highlighted the ongoing restoration of his unreleased film "Zooni." Shaad also revealed upcoming projects, including a new romantic film. The legacy of storytelling continues in the Ali family.
