In a stirring address at the seventh convocation of Anant National University, Ajay Piramal, president of the university, underscored the vital role of design in India's development. Emphasizing that India's progress hinges not only on scale and speed but on thoughtful growth, Piramal highlighted the country's longstanding strength in design.
Piramal noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned a future where development is shaped by imaginative design, transitioning from 'Make in India' to 'Design for India'. He echoed Modi's thoughts on not just manufacturing but designing in India for sustainable advancement.
The event also featured Dr. Sridhar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho Corporation, as a chief guest. Vembu challenged young architects to address urban planning issues, stressing the importance of sustainability and the use of climate-suitable materials in architecture to make cities livable.
