The sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, India's largest contemporary art festival, is set to open with an inauguration by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the Parade Ground in Fort Kochi. The event promises to expand its socio-historical and political footprint significantly.
This edition, featuring works from 66 artists and collectives across 25 countries, will span 22 venues and include seven collateral events. Curated by Nikhil Chopra alongside HH Art Spaces, Goa, the biennale will run for 110 days until March 31, 2026, under the theme 'for the time being'.
The festival seeks to decentralize its traditional venue, inviting visitors to explore installations beyond the iconic Aspinwall House in Fort Kochi. Additional exhibitions will be hosted at new locations, including the Island Warehouse in Willingdon Island, fostering a deeper connection between art, the community, and Kochi's vibrant landscape.
