Jammu and Kashmir's tourism industry is poised for a significant boost with an investment of Rs 5,500 crore under an externally funded initiative, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Saturday.
Speaking at an event in Gulmarg, Abdullah revealed plans for substantial investment, marking a first for the region's tourism efforts. This development includes infrastructure enhancements and promotional activities aimed at establishing J-K as a premier global adventure tourism destination.
Amidst a challenging year for the sector, Abdullah underscored the need for technological advancements, such as artificial snow-making, to counteract climate-related issues impacting skiing in Gulmarg. As the state gears up for the ATOAI annual convention, the Chief Minister expressed optimism about its role in strengthening J-K's national and international tourism reputation.
