Madhubala, born on Valentine day, i.e 14th Feb, was an Indian film actress who made her debut at the very early age of 9 years with film Basanti in 1942. The film was successful at the box office. Madhubala was known for her beauty, personality, and sensitive portrayals of tragic women on screen.

Madhubala's career as an adult actress started when she made her debut with Raj Kapoor at the age of 14 in the film titled Neel Kamal in 1947. During her career of 22 years she did 73 Hindi films out of which only 15 were successful at the Box office. Madhubala, in the year 1960, received her only nomination for a Filmfare Award for best actress for her performance in Mughal-e-Azam. Madhubala shared screens with prominent actors of Bollywood such as Dilip Kumar, Guru Dutt, Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand and Kishore Kumar.

In the year 1951, Madhubala was photographed for Life Magazine when Hollywood photographer Kames Burke visited India. The magazine featured her as 'The Biggest Star' in the International film industry.

Madhubala's private life was very complicated and received much attention. The actress had a long relationship with actor Dilip Kumar, but instead, she married Kishore Kumar in 1960. She shared screens with Kishore Kumar in many films such as Dhake Ki Malmal (1956), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Jhumroo (1961), Half Ticket (1962).

Madhubala died on 23 February 1969 from a prolonged illness at the age of 36.

Search Gaint Google honoured Madhubala with a doodle on her 86th birthday. Bollywood celebrities, fans all over the world are pouring wishes on social media.

Bollywood Diva Madhuri Dixit took Twitter and wrote, "A smile that won millions of hearts! Madhubala ji's mystical on-screen presence won my heart ever since I was a little girl. It was an honour to re-create one of her iconic performances and continue her glorious legacy. Remembering the eternal shining star on her birthday."
