Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the importance of women's leadership for social progress, expressing his government's commitment to female empowerment through targeted initiatives. Speaking at the 'Vikasit Bharat Nari Shakti Sangam', he emphasized the state's ambitions under schemes such as 'Lakhpati Didi', aimed at empowering 37 lakh women this year.
In a bid to strengthen grassroots governance, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jayakumar Gore proposed training camps for women sarpanches. The two-day conference, held on International Women's Day, celebrated the centenary of Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy's legislative achievements while discussing leadership development and entrepreneurship.
