Graham Linehan, the renowned Irish co-creator of the hit British comedy show "Father Ted," was acquitted on appeal of charges related to criminal damage of a transgender woman's mobile phone, as reported by British media.

The 57-year-old has been at the center of a contentious cultural debate in Britain due to his outspoken critiques of transgender activism. While transgender advocates argue that Linehan's remarks are offensive, his supporters contend that campaigners are attempting to stifle criticism and free speech.

Linehan was initially convicted for causing damage to the phone of then-17-year-old trans woman Sophia Brooks during an October 2024 conference. However, on Friday, Southwark Crown Court found him not guilty, with a judge stating there was not enough evidence to attribute the damage to Linehan.
