Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a sacred relics exposition of Tathagata Buddha and the 2569th Buddha Purnima celebrations in Leh during a two-day visit to Ladakh. The historic relics, discovered in Piprahwa near the Nepal border, were ceremoniously revered upon arrival, marking their first appearance in Leh in 75 years.

Shah highlighted the event's spiritual and historical significance for the people of Ladakh. He emphasized the rarity of celebrating Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana on the same day, underscoring the day’s unique auspiciousness. Diverse religious rituals, including the 'Mandala' and 'Sumba' offerings, were performed as part of the inauguration.

Besides the religious ceremonies, Shah announced dairy development projects, including a large-scale dairy plant in Kargil, as part of initiatives to enhance milk production and self-reliance in Ladakh. These projects, including mobile labs and modern cooling systems, aim to spark a 'white revolution' within the region.
