Dr. Nonglait: Champion of Khasi Culture Set to Contest Shillong By-Election
The National People's Party in Meghalaya has named Dr. D Rockyer Lyngdoh Nonglait, an advocate for the Khasi language and culture, as their by-election candidate for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat. This election follows the death of the previous representative, Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon. The by-election date has not yet been set.

The National People's Party (NPP) of Meghalaya has announced Dr. D Rockyer Lyngdoh Nonglait as its candidate for the forthcoming Shillong Lok Sabha by-election, following the demise of Dr. Ricky AJ Syngkon, a Voice of the People Party leader.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma praised Dr. Nonglait, highlighting his dedication to Khasi linguistic and cultural conservation, and expressed confidence in his potential to articulate Meghalaya's concerns at a national platform.
No rival candidates have been declared for the Shillong seat, one of two in the state, with Congress leader Saleng A Sangma holding the Tura seat.
