Yuri On Ice Season 2 is one of the most anticipated anime fans have been waiting for a long period since the completion of Season 1 in December 2016. Many have started believing that the second season may not take place as there is hardly any update on the storyline or production.

But the good news was previously given that Yuri On Ice Season 2 is also confirmed. The confirmation of its renewal was announced by the MAPPA studio at an early stage as probably they knew that it would take a long time for making the second season and consequently fans might lose interest from it. Hence, an early announcement of the renewal was just to ensure that something developmental is happening behind the screen.

Another logical reason that Yuri On Ice Season 2 is ought to come as the anime aficionados must know what would happen with Yuri Katsuki, the Japanese figure skater. His tale is far away from getting completed. The upcoming season is expected to feature both Yuri Plisetsky (popularly known as Yuri P) and Yuri Katsuki (popularly known as Yuri K). The series has always been in the discussions because of the same-sex relationship depicted in the Sayo Yamamoto-series. Even the first season also had Yuri K’s role model Russian figure-skating champion Victor Nikiforov and the next season will continue the story of these three.

The series achieved worldwide acclamation for developing and portraying a sweet relationship between Yuri K and Victor. The viewers also extolled its depiction of same-sex relationship although some critics argued the love story was needlessly ambiguous in parts with a key scene leaving a kiss implied. Thus fans believe that their relationship will take more new heights in the imminent season.

The release date of Yuri On Ice Season 2 is yet to be confirmed but its official release does not seem to take place in this year. The team is busy working on Yuri On Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence. A teaser trailer on the movie depicting a young Viktor Nikiforov performing at the Winter Olympic Games was released in Japan on January 17, 2019 as a part of a Yuri on Ice marathon event.
