Migrant worker dies after return from Delhi in UP's Chitrakoot

A 45-year-old migrant worker who returned from Delhi died after reaching his village here, police said on Friday. He was a tuberculosis patient, they said.

Peer Ali, who worked as a security guard in Delhi, had hired a vehicle to return to his village along with his son, police said. He fell unconscious as soon as he got down from the vehicle on Thursday evening and died, SHO Pahadi police station, Sushil Chandra Sharma said on Friday. A test for COVID-19 was conducted by a team of the health department, following which his body was handed over to the family for performing the last rites, the SHO added.

According to Chief Medical Officer Vinod Kumar, samples of Peer Ali and his son have been sent to Prayagraj for testing. Other members of the family have been directed to remain in quarantine, the CMO said. Kumar added that earlier, two migrant labourers hailing from Sarriya and Pathnaudi villages, had also died and they were later found coronavirus positive.
