The Pentagon could send thousands of more troops to the US-Mexico border, a US official said Monday as President Donald Trump warned a caravan of Central American migrants that the military was waiting for them.
The Wall Street Journal reported that 5,000 troops would deploy to the southwest US border, much higher than earlier estimates of about 800 last week.
A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the 5,000 figure was right but cautioned that planning is still underway and no final decisions have been made on numbers.
