Woman slaps additional district collector for not giving judgement

A woman allegedly roughed up an additional district collector here Friday for not giving judgement in her favour in a land dispute case, police said. The woman has been detained, they said.

The woman, a resident of Jafrabad, had 1.3 acres of land. On April 13 1998, one Arun Vishnu Bhagyawant produced a sale deed, according to which, her husband had sold the land to him for Rs 2.15 lakh, the police said.

However, the woman did not accept the sale deed and challenged its veracity before the local tehsildar (revenue official), who ruled in favour of Bhagyawant, they said.

Later, she filed an appeal before an additional district collector, who, too, gave a verdict against her, the police said. Angered over the order, she barged into the officer's cabin at around 5 pm Friday and allegedly slapped him and rouged him up, they added.
