Gumla, Jharkhand, July 11, 2024—Schneider Electric India Foundation, in partnership with PRADAN, has inaugurated two Climate Smart Villages in the Gumla District of Jharkhand. The initiative aims to uplift rural, tribal farming communities through innovative, renewable energy solutions.

The Climate Smart Village Solution features IoT-enabled smart power management systems connected to 40 kW and 45 kW solar arrays. This ensures 100% capacity utilization by efficiently diverting power based on demand. The solution powers irrigation pumps, agro-processing units, households, and even electric rickshaws, benefitting 110 families and aiming to empower 100,000 farmer families by 2025.

This initiative also aims to address essential services such as healthcare, education, food security, and clean water, which are heavily dependent on reliable energy. Improvements have led to increased farmers' income, reduced migration, and significantly decreased carbon emissions. Schneider Electric's mission continues to focus on sustainable and innovative energy solutions to drive India’s rural development.
