25-Year-Old Theft Suspect Dies in Police Custody in Madhya Pradesh

A 25-year-old man, identified as Devendra Pardi, died in police custody in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh. He was taken for questioning in connection with a theft and reportedly fell ill during interrogation. A judicial inquiry is underway to determine the cause of death.

In a tragic turn of events, a 25-year-old man identified as Devendra Pardi died while in police custody in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district. According to a police official, the incident took place on Sunday at Myana police station.

Inspector General of Police (Gwalior Zone) Arvind Saxena stated that Pardi, who had a criminal record involving robbery, theft, and attempted murder, was taken in for questioning after an accomplice implicated him in a theft case. During the interrogation, Pardi complained of deteriorating health and was subsequently transported to the Guna district hospital, where he died.

A judicial inquiry under the provision of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita (BNS) is currently underway to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. 'The post-mortem has been completed, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the judicial inquiry,' added IG Saxena. The incident has sparked unrest among Pardi's family members and the local community. Authorities urged them to await the judicial investigation's outcome.
