Uttarakhand Plans Enhanced Chardham Yatra Safety and Management

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi assessed IIM Rohtak's report on Chardham's carrying capacity on Tuesday, mandating an action plan for a smooth and safe pilgrimage. This in-depth review aims to enhance the yatra's efficiency and safety for devotees.

During the meeting, Raturi emphasized the importance of accurately assessing the carrying capacity of the four Dhams. Key issues identified for the action plan include robust medical and emergency services, effective yatra management, and balancing local economic gains while preserving the ecology.

Raturi also prioritized road improvements, traffic control, and crowd management, particularly in the initial 40 days post-opening. The action plan will feature modern registration systems, including RFID and AADHAR-based options, and an SMS Weather Update System. Discussions also included medical facilities under PPP or CSR models and scalable parking solutions.

On Monday, Raturi instructed the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board on stringent e-waste management protocols, ensuring proper disposal across government and non-governmental organizations.
