Himachal CM Urges PM Modi for Green Energy Support and Tourism Boost

Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met PM Modi, seeking support for transforming the state into a green energy hub and boosting tourism in Kangra. He requested compensations, project approvals, and financial assistance for various initiatives, receiving assurances from the Prime Minister.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital on Tuesday, appealing for support to transform the state into a fully green energy hub. Sukhu detailed the state government's green initiatives and sought compensation to transition away from thermal power.

The Chief Minister highlighted the potential to generate 1000 MW of hybrid solar and wind energy in Spiti, requiring approval for the green corridor project. He brought up the state's pending power issues, including the restoration of Shanan Project rights, free power royalty, and back payments from the Bhakra Beas Management Board.

Discussing tourism, Sukhu emphasized developing Kangra as the tourism capital, urging the Centre to fund 50% of land costs for expanding Kangra Airport and proposing a Tourism SEZ. He also appealed for significant financial help to recover from recent monsoon damages. PM Modi assured full support.
