Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and his cabinet ministers observed a two-minute silence on Wednesday to honor BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, who passed away at a private hospital.
Chief Minister Dhami visited Rawat's residence in Dehradun to pay his respects. Speaking to the media, he said, "Shaila Rani Rawat always prioritized the welfare and development of her constituency. Her commitment to public service was exemplary."
"It is extremely sad that she is no longer with us. I pray for her soul to rest in peace and for her family to find strength," he added. Dhami described her demise as an irreparable loss to the party and her constituents.
Rawat secured the Kedarnath seat in 2012 on a Congress ticket, lost it in 2017, but regained it in 2022 representing the BJP.
