CBI Arrests Three More in NEET-UG Paper Leak Scandal

The CBI arrested three additional suspects in Patna related to the NEET-UG paper leak, including two medical students. Technical surveillance confirmed their presence in Hazaribagh on exam day. Earlier arrests and widespread protests led to the CBI taking over the investigation.

In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended three more individuals in Patna concerning the NEET-UG paper leak case, according to agency sources on Saturday. Two of the arrested, Kumar Manglam Bishnoi and Deepender Kumar, are Bharatpur Medical College students.

Technical surveillance substantiated their presence in Hazaribagh on the exam day. The third suspect, Shashi Kumar Paswan, who was also taken into custody today, allegedly provided extensive support to the operation's kingpin.

On July 18, the CBI had earlier arrested four AIIMS Patna students linked to this case. Identified as Karan Jain, Kumar Sanu, Rahul Anand, and Chandan Singh, these individuals were reportedly solving papers for the main accused, Pankaj Kumar Singh, who was detained on July 16 alongside another accused, Raju Singh. Pankaj Singh, a civil engineer from NIT Jamshedpur, is believed to be the mastermind.

On July 12, 13 individuals had already been remanded to CBI custody by the Patna High Court regarding this case. The CBI took over the investigation after widespread protests and demands for test annulment due to alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5.
