The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam, acknowledging that ordering a fresh exam would have serious repercussions for over 24 lakh students who appeared in it.

The apex court was deliberating on multiple pleas seeking to annul NEET-UG 2024 results and conduct a new exam, in light of accusations of paper leaks and malpractices. Students had petitioned the court, citing question paper leakage, compensation marks, and inconsistencies in the NEET-UG examination.

The NEET-UG exam, organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is crucial for admissions into medical and dental courses in both government and private institutions nationwide. The 2024 examination occurred on May 5 across 4,750 centers, with approximately 24 lakh candidates participating.

Further details awaited. (ANI)
