Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's critique of the INDI Alliance's protest over the Union Budget 2024 has sparked controversy, with Congress MP KC Venugopal alleging that she is misleading the country. Venugopal, speaking to ANI, asserted, 'She should tell us what she is giving to Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Maharashtra.'
Venugopal further criticized Sitharaman's lengthy 1 hour 40 minutes speech, pointing out that 'she did not even mention some major states, including Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.' He accused her of misleading the House with her remarks.
In response, Sitharaman lashed out at the opposition's claims, calling them 'outrageous allegations' and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. She challenged the Congress to name every state in their budget speeches, defending her stance and the budget's allocations.
This exchange comes after INDIA bloc MPs staged a protest in the Parliament complex, chanting slogans against the Union Budget. The opposition leaders, holding placards, labeled the budget as 'discriminatory.' (ANI)
