Leaders Pay Tribute on 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

Top Indian leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, President Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, honoring their valor and sacrifice in India's historic 1999 military victory.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi paid tribute on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday. In a post on X, she lauded Kargil Vijay Diwas as a golden page in India's military history, highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers.

"During the Kargil War, our soldiers faced harsh conditions, risked their lives, drove away the enemy, and made the nation proud by hoisting the tricolor atop the Himalayan peaks," she said. "Salute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the nation! The country will always be indebted to our martyrs. Jai Hind!" she added.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi echoed similar sentiments on X, acknowledging the soldiers' supreme sacrifice. "On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay heartfelt tribute to the immortal martyrs who gave their all to protect India," he said. "The country will forever be indebted to them for their ultimate sacrifice," he added.

President Droupadi Murmu also hailed the courage and exceptional valor of the armed forces. In a post on X, she urged the nation to draw inspiration from their sacrifice and valor. "Kargil Vijay Diwas is a day for a grateful nation to honor the indomitable courage and valor of our armed forces. I pay tribute to each soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending Mother India in Kargil in 1999 and bow in reverence to their memory," President Murmu stated in her post. "I am confident all countrymen will draw inspiration from their sacrifice and valor. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!" she added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier paid tribute to the soldiers and laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial. He later virtually initiated the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the success of Operation Vijay in 1999, during which Indian forces regained strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani intruders and terrorists.
