The BJP government is planning a 10-day padayatra starting July 31 to protest against the alleged scams of the Siddaramaiah government.

In response, Karnataka's Deputy Minister DK Shivkumar claimed in a press conference that the BJP aims to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with this initiative against the Mysore Urban Development Authority's (MUDA) irregularities. 'The Congress introduced padayatras in India. Now, the BJP is adopting this tactic to discredit CM Siddaramaiah and destabilize the Congress government,' Shivkumar stated.

Shivkumar further accused the BJP of being 'the master of scams,' arguing that Karnataka is a significant state for Congress and the BJP is willing to undermine it at any cost. He criticized the BJP for sending its agencies to create unnecessary trouble rather than pursuing legal routes. He mentioned that similar efforts are underway with the Muda case and the BJP and JDS are collaborating in this padayatra because they are losing political ground.

Shivkumar also highlighted the inconsistencies during the BJP's tenure, stating that MUDA had acquired land from the Chief Minister without proper notification and later compensated with allocated sites. He defended that these allocations took place within the legal framework and promised to release a list of sites illegally allocated during the BJP's rule.

He denounced the BJP's plans to protest the alleged MUDA irregularities in Parliament as a ploy to destabilize the Congress government. Shivkumar vowed to uncover one BJP scam each day of their padayatra from Bengaluru to Mysuru and challenged key BJP figures to debate publicly on the issue.
