More than 36,000 farmers in Goa are now embracing modern farming methods and using sophisticated mechanized tools, Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik revealed during the assembly session on Friday.
Naik shared these insights while answering a question raised by Altone D'Costa of the Congress party during the ongoing monsoon session.
In his written reply, Naik specified that a total of 36,075 farmers have adopted advanced farming techniques across Goa. However, he noted that a number of agriculturists continue to employ traditional methods due to constraints like varied farm sizes and fragmented land holdings.
The minister added that the agriculture department does not have detailed records of those still using traditional methods.
Incentives and subsidies are given to farmers using both modern and traditional methods, Naik informed the house.
